![]() The cab of the Raptor seems pretty quiet with Ridges, given all I hear is the MBRP exhaust when I accelerate, and the music volume is at least 12 when I drive. ![]() That gives you a comparison of tire performance on dry and wet roads, snow and off-road. If the Toyo MT's are even close to the Ridges, I'll give them a try. Toyo Open Country A/T II vs General Grabber X3 How do we compare tires Our database contains information regarding the performance of different tires, which we calculate from public data, tire tests, and forum reviews. I had them on a few F250's and F350's, they were excellent. I don't do a lot of off-road, but damn the ST MAXX look good. I like the look of the ST MAXX the most, but not sure of the Load E ride, even with the PSI lowered to 30's. Durability of 10-Ply(E) vs 12-ply(F)on the rocks(Moab/Colorado) Trying to make up my mind between General Grabber X3 load C, Cooper ST MAXX load E, and TOYO AT2 load C. You guys have any first-hand experience with the Toyo O/C MT's?Īnyone tried both the Ridge Grapplers and Toyo Open Country MT's and can provide a comparison between the 2? I assume that's due to the deeper tread depth of 21/32" vs the lesser 18.3/32" on the Ridge Grappler. I've heard Toyo MT's are good wearing, and some guys get 40,000+ miles out of them with regular rotation. That deeper tread, 3/32" taller & 1/2" wider appeals to me. They look small to me already with over half the tread gone.(see pic at bottom). They may still have 5,000 miles left in them, but I don't like to run my tires bald on an OR truck. Been great tires, but I'm reluctantly curious to try something more aggressive. I rotate them religiously every 4,000 miles and they've worn well for 43,000 miles. I drive 75% Highway, 15% City, 2% Towing my 14' flatbed with RZR XP4 900, and 8% Off-Road during vacations and hunting. Nitto Ridge Grapplers - (mounted since I bought my truck) 35.0" tall inflated - You know size matters Thats way cheaper than the Toyos have ever been. Tire rack has the x3s at 262 a piece for 35'. I know the Nitto Trails are fairly good for MT's, but I think I got just under 35k miles on that 1 set, so I'm not looking to go with Trails this time. (Edited) karirick said: Tread Depot has Toyos for less than Grabber x3, but of course no local store support.Nitto and Toyo are sister companies, so I expect good things from both. However, I'm looking to delve into a more aggressive looking MT for the Raptor this next time around, and have been eyeing the Toyo Open Country MT now for my truck. I've had Terras(originals & G2's), Trails, and Ridges on my trucks, Rubicon, and the wife's Denali for well over a decade. Never had a bad experience with any Nitto's. I've run my Nitto Ridge Grapplers for 43,000 miles with no complaints at all. The EXP is quiet and rides so much better than the KO2'S or the ST Maxx.In a couple months, I'm going to be looking at replacing my tires for the first time on my Raptor. The sidewall is really stout for a two ply tire and is plenty for my type of use. I was surprised at how much better my truck performed when dropping 6lbs of rotational mass from each wheel. The Dick Cepek EXP has a tread design that's close to the ST Maxx and the overall performance is very similar but without the weight penalty. If I did hard core off-road trails they would have stayed on my truck. ![]() They are heavy and I could really feel it in the overall performance of my truck. They still ride pretty stiff, but not as bad as the KO2'S. The St Maxx probably has one of the best tread designs on the market, low noise, great off-road traction, good wet weather performance. They were very abrupt and rough riding (34F/30R psi). The KO2'S were ok, but really sucked in anything that even looked like mud and the wet weather traction really got bad after about 25k. I have had KO2'S, ST Maxx, and now the Dick Cepek EXP all in E load.
